When the mirror shatters upon impact, the backing film's high-strength adhesive and film layer securely bond the fragments in place, significantly minimizing the risk of injury from flying glass shards.
Type
PE Material – Basic Safety Protection
CAT I safety film is made of PE (Polyethylene) with a high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. It offers good flexibility and basic tensile strength. When the mirror accidentally breaks, the adhesive layer firmly holds the glass fragments in place, effectively preventing flying shards and reducing the risk of cuts.
CAT II Mirror Safety Film (Enhanced Protection Level)
PE Material with Reinforced Structure – High-Strength Professional Protection
CAT II safety film is also made of PE (Polyethylene) but features an enhanced structural design (such as thicker gauge, multi-layer lamination, or a mesh-like reinforced layer). Its tensile strength and impact resistance are significantly superior to CAT I. When the mirror suffers a violent impact and shatters completely, the reinforced backing film acts like a "safety net," locking all fragments firmly in place and providing a higher level of personal protection.
